DeShuna Spencer, Editor/Communications Manager, oversees the content
and production of NSSEA Essentials magazine, Essentials Weekly e-newsletter
and other NSSEA publications. She also serves as the primary advertising
contact for Essentials magazine and press contact during NSSEA tradeshows.
Spencer, a print journalism graduate from Jackson State University
in Jackson, Miss., has more than six years of journalism experience.
Her career in journalism began while in college, where she was
a staff writer for the Clarion-Ledger, Mississippi's largest newspaper.
She has also worked as a crime and feature reporter for the Oakland
Tribune; and as the Leisure Section editor for the Fort Campbell Courier,
the largest US military newspaper. Previous work experience includes
interning for The Presidio Trust in San Francisco in its Public
Relations Department; and volunteering a year of her life by serving
in a low-income Buffalo community with AmeriCorps*VISTA. In her
spare time she freelance writes for The Crisis magazine, NAACP's
bi-monthly magazine; and volunteers for the National Urban League
Young Professionals Network and at her church serving as the Editor-in-Chief
of the newsletter, VICTORY.

As NSSEA’s Communications Assistant, Keisha Levy-Minzie contributes to Essentials magazine and other association publications. She is the editor of Suppliers' Monthly , NSSEA’s monthly enewsletter, and writes the association’s daily blog, “The Education Supply Playground.” She also is the author of the annual report: State of the School Market report. Keisha graduated from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism.
Before joining NSSEA, Keisha interned with Education Week in Bethesda, MD. As a Web / Multimedia intern, Keisha updated and created web content for Education Week. In addition, she interned with WMAR ABC 2 News in Baltimore, MD as an On-Air Writing Intern, WEAA 88.9 JAZZ FM as a Production Intern, and she was one of only two Layout Editors for Morgan State University's student newspaper The Spokesman. Keisha was also the Editor-in-Chief of Northwest High School's student newspaper, The JagWire; located in Germantown, MD. In her spare time, Keisha enjoys social networking through Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc and she enjoys writing poetry.
